Red light can be used to achieve more realistic colouring of photos taken underwater (see our datasheet for an example) and to illuminate various fluids for leak detection, and can be especially useful in deep ocean applications where many species in this environment are unable to detect it.

For example, Team ORCA discusses the successful filming of the first footage of Architeuthis in its natural habitat by using far-red light that is invisible to the giant squid.

While far-red light does not come standard with the Aquorea Adaptive Red LED Light, SubC will customize the product to meet this requirement upon request.
